Abstract
SUMMARY
The excretion of epiandrosterone was found to be significantly higher in males than in females. Administration of corticotrophin (ACTH) to males increased epiandrosterone excretion but in females the excretion of this steroid was unchanged after the administration of ACTH, metyrapone or testosterone. Epiandrosterone excretion was high in women with virilizing syndromes, normal in cases of increased cortisol secretion and low in pituitary hypogonadism in men.
