Abstract
SUMMARY
The excretion of urinary 17-hydroxycorticosteroids and 11-deoxy-17-oxosteroids by normal British and Japanese women has been compared. British women excreted more 17-hydroxycorticosteroids than Japanese women but the difference disappears if corrections are made for body weight. Young British women excreted more 11-deoxy-17-oxosteroids than Japanese women of comparable age. This difference remains after correction for differences in body weight. Japanese women aged 40–59 yr. had a significantly higher ratio of androsterone to aetiocholanolone than British women of the same age.
