Abstract

SUMMARY Evidence is produced for the biosynthesis of androst-16-en-3α-ol (androstenol) from 2-14C-acetate and 3H-acetate by surviving rabbit and guinea-pig testicular tissue. Incidental confirmation of the incorporation of acetate into cholesterol and testosterone by the same tissue is also reported.
