Abstract
SUMMARY
Intramuscular injections of iodide (1 mg./kg. body wt./day) caused a rise of the serum protein-bound iodine (PBI) in normal, thyroidectomized, hypophysectomized and thyro-hypophysectomized baboons. The rise of the serum PBI resulting from iodide injections was only a fraction of the increase observed when the baboons were injected with similar doses of elemental iodine.
Intramuscular injections of elemental iodine dissolved in propylene glycol caused a decrease of the serum lipids in totally thyroidectomized baboons, but not in normal or partially thyroidectomized baboons.
