Abstract
In this paper discusses various ways to control the speed of a DC motor and provides a literature review on the speed control of a DC motor. DC motors are commonly used in industries, robotics, domestic manipulators, electric cars, steel mills, electric cranes, and many others. Appliances due to their low cost and less complicated control structure and their ability to control a wide range of speeds and torque. Therefore, a wide range of position controls is required. PID controller is utilized in many industries for a wide range of applications. The tuning of PID controller parameters is crucial for desired out response. There are many techniques for tuning a PID controller. This paper provides a summary of intelligent control strategies that can be used to fine-tune PID parameters for DC motor speed control, based on initial research. It compares the theoretical complexity of these strategies to the parameters of the PID controller to be fine-tuned, such as increase time and settling time, steady-state error, and maximum overshoot, among others
