The relationship between the motivational language used by school principals and perceptions of teachers' organizational ostracism

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between the motivational language used by school principals and teachers' perceptions of organizational ostracism. The research was carried out with 658 teachers working in the province of Istanbul. The "Motivational Language Scale" developed by Özen (2013), and the "Organizational Ostracism Scale" developed by Abaslı and Özdemir (2019) were used as data collection tools in the research designed in relational survey model. As a result of the research, it was found that teachers' perceptions of the motivational language used by school principals were high, and organizational ostracism perception levels were moderate, and that teachers' perceptions of motivational language used by school principals and organizational ostracism did not show a significant difference according to teachers' gender, professional seniority, and educational levels. In addition, it has been determined that there is a statistically negative, moderate and significant relationship between the motivational language used by school principals and teachers' perceptions of organizational ostracism. It is considered to be an original study because it examines teachers' perceptions of organizational ostracism in the context of motivational language used by school principals, unlike other studies in the literature.
