Abstract
Oncoplastic breast-conserving surgery (OPS) improves patient satisfaction by making both breasts symmetrical and maintaining a natural shape after breast-conserving surgery. In particular, Korean women with relatively small breasts have the advantage of being able naturally to maintain the shape of their previous breasts while removing the breast tumor with an inserted volume replacement. Volume replacement OPS, which uses an acellular dermal matrix (ADM) to replace breast volume, is becoming more widely used. However, ADM-filled cavities appear as dense mass-like lesions on mammography and as echogenic masses with posterior shade on breast ultrasonography. Therefore, careful examination is required, as it may be mistaken for a local recurrence or may make it challenging to detect a local recurrence on ultrasound examination during follow-up after surgery. The use of magnetic resonance imaging is recommended after volume replacement OPS.
