“Solidarity with Ukraine” — the medical community of the free world supports and helps Ukraine

Abstract

On June 22–23, 2023, the annual conference of the European Forum of Medical Associations, the Standing Committee of European Doctors, and Izba Lekarska, a self-governing organization of doctors and dentists, took place in Warsaw, Poland. This year’s meeting, which was also supported by the World Medical Association, was held under the slogan “Solidarity with Ukraine”. A two-day meeting of European and Ukrainian doctors in Warsaw that was part of this conference, once again proved the importance of cooperation between medical non-governmental organizations. It is of particular importance during the hot phase of Russian aggression in Ukraine, which has resulted in a terrible number of wounded, both military and civilian. Such close international cooperation is an important component of medical diplomacy, which Ukrainian doctors carry out with one main goal in mind — to organize medical care for our compatriots affected by the war. At the end of the forum, the participants discussed and defined standards for the provision of medical care at various levels during and after the war.
