Abstract

Aging is determined by the complex interaction between genetic and environmental factors. A growing body of evidence suggests that the gut microbiome determines many age-related changes, including immune system dysregulation and disease susceptibility. This paper analyzes the characteristics of the gut microbiome in 23 people of an elderly group living in Belarus. The genetic analysis of biological material was carried out by metagenomic analysis using the high-throughput sequencing technology from Illumina. The most demonstrated components in the studied microbiome samples included Ruminococcaceae and Verrucomicrobiaceae representatives. In the study group, it was found that with aging, the number of bacteria of the Enterobacteriaceae family decreases in a patient, and there is also a tendency to a decrease in the number of bacteria of the Erysipelotrichaceae family.
