Abstract

Hydroboration of carbon disulfide with THF-BH3 yields the new cage compound [CH2(SBH2)2]2 which has the adamantane skeleton C2B4S4. The same compound could be prepared by the action of methane dithiole on THF • BH3 or THF • BH2C1. The crystal structure was determined from diffractometer data and refined to R = 0.027 for 2240 independent reflections. [CH2(SBH2)2]2 is monoclinic, P21/c, with a = 730.7(1), b = 911.5(2), c = 1462.6(2) pm and β = 90.84(1)°. The unit cell contains four formula units
