Abstract
Carbon subsulphide (C3S2), prepared by pyrolytic reduction of CS2, reacts with 6-chloro-4-hydroxycoumarin and thiobenzamide to yield the polythiopyrones and thiazinethiones 5, 6 and 7. 2-Mercaptopyridine and C3S2 give the mesoionic compound 8. Generally it can be shown that C3S2 reacts to give higher condensed products.
