Abstract
The tautomeric equilibria of 4,7-dioxo-4,5,6,7-tetrahydroindoles have been investigated by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Proton chemical shift measurements have been made for a series of alkyl or arylindole derivatives, and equilibrium constants ([enol]/[keto]) have been determined. The effect of solvent on the enol-keto equilibria has been studied.
