Abstract
The reaction between complexes [VH(CO)6-npn] (n = 2, pn = Ph2P(CH2)2PPh2; n = 3, pn = MeC(CH2PPh2)3) and [CoX(NO)2]2 in THF, acetonitrile or acetone, L, yields the products cis-[VL4(NO)2]X and [Co(CO)3-mpn(NO)] (m = 0-3) via the intermediates [V(CO)5-npn(NO)] and [V(X)L3(NO)]X. Exclusion of X from the first coordination sphere is based on the absence of any halogen dependence of the 51V shielding. Optimized procedures for the preparation of the hydridovanadium and dinitrosylcobalt complexes are described.
