Abstract

Abstract Sixteen isoflavonoids have been isolated from the black gram. Phaseolus mungo L. (syn. Vigna mungo) following treatment with aqueous CuCl2. These include 12 known isoflavonoids: genistein. 2′-hydroxygenistein. 2′-hydroxydaidzein, kievitone, dalbergioidin, cyclokievitone. 5-deoxykievitone, 2′-hydroxydihydrodaidzein, isoferreirin, aureol, glycinol and demethylvestitol. In addition, kievitone hydrate, which was previously known only as a fungal metabolite of kievitone, was isolated together with 3 novel natural isoflavanones which were characterized as 4′-O-methylkievitone, cyclokievitone hydrate and 5-deoxykievitone hydrate.
