Abstract

Bis(tetrabutylammonium)bis( 1,1 -dicyanoethene-2,2-diselenolato)nitridotechnetate( V), (Bu4N)2[TcN(i-mns)2] has been prepared by the reaction of (Bu4N)TcNCl4 with the potassium salt of the ligand and Bu4NBr. The compound forms yellow crystals which were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV/VIS spectrometry, mass spectroscopy as well as X-ray structure determination. The compound crystallizes triclinic in the space group P 1̄ with Z = 2. The final R value is 0.045. In the complex anion the five-coordinate technetium atom exhibits a square pyramidal environment with the selenium donors in the basal plane and the nitrido ligand in the apical position. The bond length Tc≡=N = 161(1) pm is within the normal range of TcN triple bonds.
