Detection and Classification of Transformer Winding Mechanical Faults Using UWB Sensors and Bayesian Classifier

Abstract

Abstract In this paper, the Bayesian classifier is used to detect and classify the radial deformation and axial displacement of transformer windings. The proposed method is tested on a model of transformer for different volumes of radial deformation and axial displacement. In this method, ultra-wideband (UWB) signal is sent to the simplified model of the transformer winding. The received signal from the winding model is recorded and used for training and testing of Bayesian classifier in different axial displacement and radial deformation states of the winding. It is shown that the proposed method has a good accuracy to detect and classify the axial displacement and radial deformation of the winding.
