Abstract

Abstract Dibromotrinitrosyltungsten, which dimerises via bromo bridges, is prepared by treating tungsten hexabromide with NO in CH2Br2 suspension. It reacts with the Lewis bases acetonitrile, 1,2-dipyridyl, triphenylphosphane, and tetraphenylphosphonium bromide forming the octahedral complexes [WBr,(NO),(CH,CN),]. [WBr2(NO)2(dipy)], [ WBr2(NO)2(PPh3)2], [WBr3(NO)2]2 2⊖, and [WBr4(NO)2]2⊖, respectively. According to the IR spectra all dinitrosyl complexes possess cis-configuration of the nitrosyl groups.
