Abstract
Gaseous methylsulfenylchloride, CH3SCl, reacts with active potassium fluoride at 100°C to give methyl(fluoromethyl)disulfane, CH3SSCH2F. This compound decomposes at room temperature to yield dimethyldisulfane and bis(fluoromethyl)disulfane. The new compounds have been identified by 1H and 19F NMR and mass spectra.
