Abstract
The structure of the yellow main pigment of Cortinarius vitellinus has been established as 4-hydroxy-flavomannin-6,6′-dimethyl ether A1 (1). 1 is easily oxidized to a number of quinones, whose structures have been elucidated by mass spectrometry. A nomenclature for stereoisomeric flavomannin derivatives is proposed.
