Abstract

Most of the polyacid salts AxMyOz of the transition elements M = Ti, V, Nb, Mo, W, U with layer structure can exchange the alkali or earth alkali ions A for other suitable cations. Especially suited are large organic ions such as alkylammonium ions whose large layer separation makes the interlayer cations accessible for the exchange reaction.
