Abstract

Abstract Bis(trimethylsilyl)diazene reacts with cyclopentadienyl metal chlorides with reduction followed by addition. According to X-ray analysis the chromium complex [C5H5Cr(NSiMe3)2]2, formed by the reaction of C5H5CrCl2 with azosilane, contains tri-methylsilylazene ligands. The addition of Me3Si-N = N-SiMe3 to chromium is therefore connected with a cleavage of the azo group in this case.
