Mn(CO)5Br and (Me3Si)3P react to give Mn2(CO)8 (μBr) (μP(SiMe3)2) 3. Using methanol, both Si-P bonds of 3 can be cleaved, forming Mn2(CO)8 (μBr) (μPH2) 4. On dissolving 4 in CCl4 a P-H, C-Cl̲ exchange reaction is observed, yielding Mn2(CO)8 (μBr) (μPCl2). IR and NMR data are reported.
