Abstract
The reaction of 3,3-dichloro-2,4-dioxo-tetrahydroquinolines with pyridine yields the corresponding pyridinium ylides. However, the reaction of 3-diazo-2,4-dioxo-tetrahydroquinolines with pyridine in the presence of copper gives Cu complexes of 4,4′-dihydroxy-3,3′-azo-2-quinolones.
