Abstract
n-Tetrasilane, n-pentasilane and n-hexasilane have been heated with aluminium chloride in different solvents. In aromatic solvents besides competitive disproportionation reactions isomerization reactions occur, whereas in non-aromatic solvents only decomposition can be observed. The conditions have been investigated, where isomerization reactions predominate and from n-tetrasilane iso-tetrasilane, from n-pentasilane iso-and neo-pentasilane as well as from n-hexasilane 2-silylpentasilane, 3-silylpentasilane, 2,3-disilyltetrasilane, and 2,2-disilyltetrasilane are formed in good yields
