Abstract

The structure of TlHg5Cl11, an example of the monoclinic phases MHg5X11 (M _ TI, K, Rb, Cs, NH4; X = Cl, Br), which are found in the system alkalihalide-mercury(II)halide, was determined by X-ray structure analysis. These compounds are double salts MX · 5 HgX3, because the structure is mainly formed from X - Hg - X units.
