Abstract

The new compound BaNi2Si2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group Cmcm-D2h 17 with a = 650 ± 1 pm, b = 535 ± 1 pm, c = 1133 ± 2 pm. The structure can be interpreted as a distorted variant of the ThCr2Si2-type.
