Abstract
(Me3SiCH2)3Ga, a monomer in benzene solution and a rather weak Lewis acid, was prepared from GaCl3 and Me3SiCH2MgCl in Et2O (Me = CH3, Et = C2H5). Et2GaCH2I, obtained from Et2GaI and CH2N2, reacts with Me3SiMgCl in Et2O to give a solution of Et2GaCH2SiMe3. This compound and PPh3 form the more stable complex Et2GaCH2SiMe3 · PPh3 (Ph = C6H5), which can be isolated.
