Abstract
When [Cr2 (CO)10]2⊖ or [Fe2 (CO) 8]2⊖ is reacted with Hg i. e. with group II metals at long reaction times above 100 °C insertion of the named metals into the Cr-Cr i. e. Fe-Fe bond of the both carbonylmetalates occurs yielding the new anionic complexes [(OC) 5Cr- Hg- Cr (CO) 5]2⊖
i. e. [(OC) 4Fe-M-Fe (CO)4]2⊖ (M = Zn, Cd, Hg). The properties of the compounds as well as their IR and Raman spectra will be discussed.
