Abstract
From cell homogenates of Chlorella pyrenoidosa, a system has been prepared which incorporates amino acids into acid-insoluble peptides. This system is dependent on energy regeneration (with phosphoenolpyruvate and pyruvate kinase), on GTP, and, to a lesser extent on CTP and UTP. Experiments with washed ribosomes show, a linear dependency of incorporation on ribosome concentration. By using a "pH-5-enzyme” preparation instead of the supernatant fraction, the incorporation can be stimulated by adding nucleic acids.
