Abstract

Abstract The reactions of pentacarbonylmanganese halides (CO)5MnX (X = Cl, Br, I) with the silyl- phosphanes Ph3-nP(SiMe3)n (n = 1 -3) at ambient temperature result in the elimination of one CO ligand and the formation of c/s-configurated substitution products X(CO)4Mn{PPh3-n(SiMe3)n). No CO-substitution, but Me3SiX-elimination is observed in the reaction of Ph3-nP(SiMe3)„ with the dicarbonylcyclopentadienyliron halides CpFe(CO)2X to give the di- and triferriophosphonium halides [{Cp(CO)2Fe}2PPhR]X (R = Ph, H) and [{Cp(CO)2Fe}3PH]X (X = Cl, Br, I). The mass, IR and NMR spectra are reported and discussed. The crystal structures of Cis-I(CO)4MnPPh2SiMe3 and [(Cp(CO)2Fe)2PPh2]I have been determined.
