Abstract Regular Relaxation-Oscillations of a Ruby Laser with with Varying Resonators Regular relaxation-oscillations were observed in ruby lasers with moving resonator mirrors. The appearance of these oscillations depends on the mirrors speed and population-inversion, and is explained as synchronisation of different emitting regions, whereby each emitting region fulfills the conditions for the appearance of these oscillations as given by Röss.
