Abstract
Single crystals of Cu0.64V2O5 were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis. The X-ray investigation shows an orthorhombic unit cell: α = 11.313, b = 4.804 and c = 3.613 Å, space group D2h
13-Pmnm. Cu0.64V2O5 has a network equal to that of V2O5. Copper is inserted between the layers with an extraordinary coordination and remarkable long Cu–O distances.
