Abstract
We present a new approach for multidimensional surface–subsurface flow coupling. The method does not require mesh-to-canal refinement or alignment and is based on numerical characteristics of the intersection of one-dimensional hydraulic object beds and the surface faces of the 3D tetrahedral mesh. The method is validated using widely recognized tilted v-catchment with subsurface and Borden catchment benchmarks.
