Abstract

Abstract 5-C5H5)2TiCl2 reacts with P(CH3)2(Si(CH3)3) to form the paramagnetic complex [(η5-C5H5)2Ti(Cl)P(CH3)2Si(CH3)3] (1). In 1 Ti is coordinated by two (η5-C5H5), and a Cl-ligand. In addition Ti is bound to the P-atom of a P(CH3)2(Si(CH3)3) ligand. Treatment of 1 with Na/Hg affords the dinuclear paramagnetic complex [Ti(η5-C5H5)22-P(CH3)2)]2 (2). 2 contains two Ti(η5-C5H5)2 units. Each Ti is bound to the P-atoms of the μ2-P(CH3)2-ligands. The Ti-Ti- contact (391.8 pm) does not correspond to metal-metal bonding.
