Abstract
Reaction of bisbenzenechromium (I)-cation with strong bases yields - in addition to diamagnetic products - a paramagnetic species for which the structure of (π-C6H6) Cr⊕ (π-C6H5
⊖) is suggested on the basis of ESR spectroscopic evidence. The ESR spectrum also indicates an intramolecular, interannular proton exchange with a frequency of the order 107 sec-1.
