Abstract

Background: The aim of this study was to compare the surface tension values of different irrigation solutions used in root canal treatment. Materials and Methods: Surface tension values of 5.25% NaOCl, 9% HEBP, 2% PAA, 17% EDTA, 5.25% NaOCl + 9% HEBP, 5.25% NaOCl + 2% PAA, 5.25% NaOCl + 17% EDTA solutions were measured with the drop shape analyzer DSA30 (Kruss, Hamburg, Germany). Ten measurements were taken for each irrigation solution. Data were recorded in mj/m2. The mean and standard deviation values of the groups were evaluated statistically by one-way ANOVA and Bonferroni and Tukey Multiple Comparison Tests. Results: 5.25% NaOCl + 2% PAA solution showed the highest surface tension value, and 9% HEBP solution showed the lowest value.
