Abstract
Breif Background
Patients undergoing clinical procedures are concerned about pain and increased levels of anxiety.
Objective:
The objective of this review was to critically appraise, synthesise and present the best available evidence related to the effectiveness of music interventions on anxiety in clinical procedures.
Data sources:
A detailed search was undertaken on major electronic databases. The search was restricted to English language.
Material and methods:
Systematic review, Meta analysis, randomised controlled trials and experimental studies were included in the review.
Summary and conclusions:
This narrative review concluded that there was enough evidence to suggest that patients benefited from a procedural music-listening programme.
