Abstract
Brief Background
Oral cancer has a tendency to be detected always at a later stages which is very dangerous to the patients because of its higher mortality rates. Early detection of oral cancer is therefore very important to prevent its progression to later stages. General practitioners are well suited to providing head and neck examinations, and to screening for the presence of suspicious oral lesions. This is a review article on screening and diagnosing the precancerous lesions or conditions which are now termed as oral potentially malignant disorders(OPMDs).
