1. Gill, A. 1913.The Naval Mutinies of 1797131–2. Manchester . These were Thomas Atkinson, Edward Hinds, Matthew Hollister and Charles McCarthy. Hinds of theClydehad no stomach for the mutiny (as apparently was true of the ship's company—it submitted at the end of May) and he did not return from Portsmouth. Atkinson only returned when he had drunk all his money. McCarthy had a copy of the pardon and probably one of the concessions granted when he returned to the Nore, to the fury of the other delegates according to him at his trial.
