1. Correlation of radioactive waste treatment costs and the environmental impact of waste effluents in the nuclear fuel cycle for use in establishing ''as low as practicable'' guides: milling of uranium ores
2. Our experience with asphalt on roads might give the impression that a layer of asphalt would not last long. However, in the absence of large mechancial strains or large and rapid temperature changes—a condition achievable with several feet of earth cover—asphalt is very stable. For example, asphalt used on Egyptian mummies and in Babylonian aquaducts shows no deterioration, and asphalt used as binder in Roman roads has lasted very well in spite of mechanical strains. (V. P. Puzinauskas, Asphalt Institute, College Park, Md., to Cohen, Nov. 1975).
