Abstract
Comparisons of average total height of 15 year and 8 year old trees were made between exotic and native conifers on reforested and afforested sites in the three major forest zones of Newfoundland. Tamarack outgrew all pines and spruce and on the most productive site Japanese larch and Dunkeld larch outgrew tamarack. Recommendations are made for the introduction of larches in reforestation programs in Newfoundland.
