Abstract
The Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector in Zambia is crucial for economic growth yet faces challenges like project delays and cost overruns. Building Information Modelling (BIM) has emerged as a solution. This research aims to develop a comprehensive framework to enhance BIM implementation in Zambia's AEC industry. Using mixed-methods research, including surveys and interviews with stakeholders, the study found that BIM is not widely practiced due to factors like limited awareness and high costs. However, there is willingness to adopt it. The proposed framework offers a roadmap for successful BIM adoption and implementation, emphasizing awareness programs, government partnerships with technology providers, and small-scale pilot projects. An evaluation system is recommended for monitoring progress. This approach aims to improve collaboration, effectiveness, and competitiveness in Zambia's AEC industry.
