Abstract
The current paper presents a novel technique for teaching English words via game-based methods. In addition, based on that technique, an educational software model that motivates students to memorize tricky words in English was developed. The developed game has interactive elements and can be played with hands, feet and other small objects. It is particularly useful for educational institutions that teach English as a second language to foreign speakers. For this research, a list of tricky words was compiled by conducting a survey amongst English teachers in Bulgaria. That list is later integrated into the game-based software. Finally, the results are summarized and conclusions are drawn.
