Abstract
AbstractThe stability analysis of dynamical systems, which are ubiquitous in nature, has long been a hot topic of research and several approaches have been proposed. However, control scientists often demand optimality in addition to the stability of the control system. In the 1950s and 1960s, motivated by the development of space technology and the practical use of digital computers, the theory of optimization of dynamical systems developed rapidly, forming an important branch of the discipline: optimal control.
