Abstract
AbstractThere is not one type of curriculum that fits all institutions nor all students. The engineering programs are developed based on various learning principles and cultural conditions and represent different learning ecosystems. This chapter and chapter 7 address different learning principles which can be taken into considerations when developing a student centred curriculum has to be developed. We are emphasizing exemplarity, variation, and reflection as basic learning and design principles, followed by types of more active learning strategies for lectures, inquiry-based, studios, problem-based, and project-based approaches to learning, and we emphasize teamwork and diversity of thinking as core elements to address complex socio-technical systems.
