Examination of the Financial Sustainability of NGOs’ Education Programmes: Kazakhstani Case Study

Author:

Hanley Natalya

Abstract

AbstractThis chapter analyses the financial sustainability of education programmes provided by NGOs in the conflict-affected Kazakhstani context. A multi-dimensional framework was used to investigate social-economic injustice (redistribution) through the lens of political injustice (representation). The study focuses on the historical development of NGOs, legislation development, and the current challenges with different types of funding, discussing the veiled injustices of fair access to funding, unequal distribution of funding, exclusion of NGOs from political participation, and unfair competition. Multiple approaches within and beyond the work of NGOs were offered towards transformative social-economic justice.
