J Psychiatr Res. 2021;144:455–61. This article is a large-scale examination of the impact of lifetime homelessness and justice involvement upon mental health and suicide risk in a large, national sample of post-9/11 veterans. This study built upon prior work through its examination of the cumulative impact of these social determinants as well as its inclusion of those accessing and not accessing VA services. In sum, the authors note that mental health sequelae were more severe among male and female veterans with a history of both homelessness and justice involvement.
