1. Section 6.1. The derivation of the differential equations may be found at many places. Most of the earlier papers on bending stresses in shells of revolution are based on the equations in Love’S Treatise. In recent years the discussion of the basic equations has attracted many authors, see e. g. E. Reissner: A new derivation of the equations for the deformation of elastic shells, Am. J.
