Anionic polymerization of protected N-isopropylacrylamide using trialkylaluminum offered highly isotactic poly (N-isopropylacrylamide), a substituted polyacrylamide; see: Kitayama T, Shibuya W, Katsukawa K (2002) Polym J 34:405. However, synthesizing unsubstituted polyacrylamide requires polymerizing a monomer such as N,O-Bis(trimethylsilyl)acrylamide.
