Abstract
AbstractA new method for real-time monitoring of algae cultures in bioreactors has been developed. It is based on ion mobility spectrometry and enables the detection of volatile organic compounds released by the algae. Spectral analysis and principal component analysis can be used to identify growth phases and to detect experimental influences. This continuous monitoring enables early detection of disturbances in the biotechnological process.
